AKP Phnom Penh, October 7, 2026 --
Cambodia and Saudi Arabia have agreed to strengthen tourism cooperation and work with Saudia Airlines to explore the possibility of establishing direct and regular flights between Cambodia and Riyadh, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
The agreement was reached during a meeting held here on Oct. 6 between Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak and H.E. Thamer Mohammed A Algosaibi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia, with residence in Hanoi, Vietnam, and his senior delegation.
In the meeting, H.E. Huot Hak expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued cooperation with Cambodia across various sectors.
He said the Ministry of Tourism remains ready to strengthen and expand cooperation with Saudi Arabia, particularly in tourism, to make collaboration more effective and mutually beneficial.
H.E. Minister said tourism is a priority sector and a key economic pillar for Cambodia, stressing that the country remains a safe, warm and hospitable destination for tourists from all markets.
Cambodia is promoting campaigns including “Cambodia: Kingdom of Wonder, Feel the Warmth” and “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” to attract more international tourists, particularly from the Middle East.
Both sides agreed to expedite the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation and coordinate familiarisation trips for tourism operators, content creators and journalists from both countries to explore tourism potential and enhance destination promotion.
They also agreed to encourage investment, joint marketing and the promotion of Muslim tourism.
The two sides notably agreed to work with Saudia Airlines to explore the possibility of establishing direct and regular flights between Cambodia and Riyadh.
Cambodia and Saudi Arabia established their diplomatic relations on Oct. 19, 2010, with tourism cooperation continuing through Cambodia’s support for the establishment of the UN Tourism Regional Office in Riyadh and Riyadh’s hosting of the 2025 UN Tourism General Assembly.
