Cambodia Ready to Facilitate Media Coverage for 20th Francophonie Summit
AKP Phnom Penh, October 2, 2026 -- Cambodia is fully prepared to facilitate national and international media coverage of the 20th Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh in November, with hundreds of journalists expected to cover the Kingdom’s first hosting of the major international event, Minister of Information H.E Neth Pheaktra said on Friday.
He made the remarks during a presentation to advance delegations from various countries on Cambodia’s media and communications preparations for the summit at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel on Oct. 2.
H.E Neth Pheaktra, who chairs Sub-Commission 3 on Media and Communications, said comprehensive preparations have been made to ensure journalists can carry out their reporting assignments smoothly and have access to the facilities and information needed to cover the summit.
Cambodia will host the 20th Francophonie Summit for the first time in its history from Nov. 14 to 16 in Phnom Penh under the theme “Reinvest in Peace for Shared Prosperity and Sustainable Stability”.
H.E. Minister said online registration for media organisations began on Aug. 10 and will close on Nov. 2.
As of the end of September, 45 media organisations from 17 countries had already registered, while around 500 Cambodian journalists are expected to cover the summit.
Accredited journalists will receive identification badges and guidance on participation and reporting assignments, while Cambodia has also established mechanisms to facilitate the entry of foreign media personnel and their equipment for the event.
A dedicated media centre will operate from Nov. 13 to 16 to serve national and international media, providing workspaces for journalists, press conference rooms, internet access, technical support and other services necessary for news coverage.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra said the preparations form an important part of the work of Sub-Commission 3 to ensure that local and foreign journalists can carry out their assignments smoothly and have sufficient access to information to report on the summit to audiences in Cambodia and abroad.
The summit will be accompanied by a range of cultural, economic and digital activities, including the Village de la Francophonie, which will showcase the diverse cultures and arts of French-speaking countries.
Economic and digital initiatives, particularly FrancoTech, will also be organised alongside other activities aimed at strengthening the teaching, learning and promotion of the French language.
The 20th Francophonie Summit represents a significant milestone for the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) and the promotion of Francophonie in Asia.
