Andersen Ranks Top Four Banks With Assets Over $5 Billion
AKP Phnom Penh, September 21, 2026 --
Andersen Consulting Cambodia said Monday that its specialised research and rating platform had ranked ABA Bank first with 4.50 points among banks with more than US$5 billion in assets.
Acleda Bank ranked second with 4.39 points followed by Canadia Bank and KB Prasac Bank sharing third place with 4.30 points.
ABA’s result reflects, “market leadership, profitable scale, National Bank of Canada support and technology,” a statement said. “ABA’s main watch areas are rising Stage 3 credit, sector concentration, lower solvency headroom and limited quantified climate/taxonomy outcomes.”
For Acleda, “national franchise, listed-bank governance, funding strength, sustainability leadership and digital capability support second place.”
The main watch areas are “elevated credit-impaired exposures and asset-quality outcomes.”
Canadia’s equal-third ranking reflects “capital/liquidity, a deep deposit franchise, local market position and technology support … Persistent property concentration, rising (non-performing loans) and large exposures remain the key constraints.”
For KB Prasac, the statement cited its reach among micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and retail customers along with support from its South Korean parent KB Kookmin, funding transformation and digital capability.
“The key constraint is material three-year (non-performing loans)/Stage 3 deterioration, alongside a customer-deposit (loan-deposit ratio) above 100 percent and incomplete taxonomy/prudential outcome disclosure.”
US$2.0 TO US$4.999 BILLION CATEGORY
In the US$2.0 to US$4.999 billion asset category announced earlier, Cambodian Public Bank ranked first at 4.31 points followed by Bank of China (Hong Kong) at 4.22 points, Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia (FTB) at 4.05 points, Sathapana Bank at 4.0 points and Wing Bank at 3.98 points.
“Cambodian Public Bank’s result reflects broad balance-sheet resilience, strong capital and liquidity, operating efficiency, retail funding depth, established governance, disciplined risk architecture and long-standing parent support,” Andersen said.
“Bank of China follows with powerful group support, strong profitability and asset quality, and differentiated Cambodia-China transaction and RMB capability,” it added.
“FTB’s liquidity, technology and sustainability strengths, Sathapana’s governance, reach and technology, and Wing’s digital ecosystem scale show that no single institutional model determines a leading result.”
